State of Technology – Texas Industry Forum

On September 5, FCA Systems participated in the State of Technology Forum, a premier event where technology leaders and innovators gather to discuss cutting-edge advancements. As a company specializing in cloud consulting and development, we were eager to engage with top experts and explore how the latest trends can enhance public sector services.

The Annual State of Technology, Texas Industry Forum brought together government leaders, industry experts, and technology innovators for a full-day event focused on the future of technology in Texas. With an agenda packed with 10 government speakers and four panels, the event aimed to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive innovation and efficiency in government and education.

“Our vision at Government Technology is to be the trusted source for guidance, ideas, innovations, and relationships that build a government and education system that works for everyone,” said Mike Fries. “Facilitating collaboration between government and industry partners is key, and this event is a platform to provide valuable insights.”

The event kicked off with remarks from Steve Pierre, Deputy Executive Director for the Department of Information Resources (DIR) for the State of Texas, who discussed the state’s pioneering technology initiatives. Texas DIR operates using an “Ed Reed model,” focusing on efficiency, scalability, and cybersecurity. With $6 billion in annual sales and a strong partnership network, the DIR’s cooperative contracts program is setting a national example. Notably, 44 states have utilized Texas DIR contracts, illustrating the state’s leadership in technology procurement and innovation.

Pierre emphasized the state’s commitment to cybersecurity, highlighting the legislative support that has enabled Texas to become a national leader in protecting critical infrastructure and citizen data. “Our number one priority is protecting the state’s technology infrastructure and private information from cyberattacks,” he said, stressing the importance of partnerships with vendors.

The forum also featured Texas House Representative J.D. Oliver, a leading voice in technology legislation. As chair of the House Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, Oliver has been instrumental in promoting cybersecurity, legacy modernization, and data management. His efforts have earned him national recognition, including being named the National Association of State Chief Information Officers’ 2023 Technology Champion.

The event concluded with a networking reception, offering attendees the opportunity to build relationships that will drive the next wave of government and industry collaboration in Texas.
